With over 400 Years of New England roots, Torrington native Katina Hungerford's photography captures the beauty of the Litchfield Hills and beyond in saturated hues and muted contrasts made to resemble paintings of her favorite landscape painter, Paul Defletsen. Combining modern photography with classic artistry, Katina shoots 99% of her photos with just an iPhone! She uses the Instagram App filters to adjust lighting, shadows and tone.

"Like many people in the 70's, my parents had a HUGE sofa painting by Paul Defletsen. I'd stare at that painting of a covered bridge, huge old tree and gorgeous autumn leaves and just drift off into daydreams as a child. When I got older, I realized I was surrounded by all the scenes I admired - The Litchfield Hills and all of New England - just the most beautiful place on earth. I love to drive off spontaneously and explore back roads and small towns in all seasons, always looking to capture a new "painting". I love my heritage here. I hope it shows. I just want to share it and let other people see all the beauty I see."
