The pond at Burr Pond State Park, Torrington CT is very pretty with an easy walking trail around it. The trail is less than 3 miles. The scenery is beautiful in Spring-Summer and the Fall foliage is just wonderful.

Buttrick Trail
The Buttrick Trail uses the old Buttrick Road right of way. It connects the Sue Grossman Still River Greenway to the Blue Trail System between Burr Pond State Park and Sunnybrook State Park. Entrance: Buttrick Road - Winsted Road, Torrington, CT

John Muir Trail
Park at SunnyBrook Park off Newfield Rd. in Torrington and crossed the road and you will find the trail head just on the other side of a small bridge. The hike is about 4 miles and is blazed with blue paint.

Sue Grossman Greenway
The Sue Grossman Still River Greenway runs for nearly 3 miles through a wooded corridor between Lanson Drive and Harris Drive in Torrington. The paved trail occupies the old right-of-way for the New York, New Haven, and Hartford Railroad's Naugatuck division.
Sue Grossman Extension
The Sue Grossman Extension is the extension of the current Sue Grossman Still River Greenway. It connects from Harris Drive south to Kennedy Drive, and only requires three right-of-ways, and contains one big road crossing. The Sue Grossman Extension could eventually connect to Alvord Park.

The gymnasium in the Armory is available during the day for walking. Walking hours are from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday except on holidays or special notices. There are fourteen laps to a mile. Come and enjoy walking in an indoor atmosphere at the Armory.
The armory is located at 153 South Main and is the location of the Torrington Parks and Recreation's office. Located on the first floor, the office is opened Monday through Friday (except holidays) from 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
*** The Armory is also available for rent for athletic groups and community events. All rentals must be contracted through the Torrington Parks and Recreation Department Office. Please download this form or contact the Parks and Recreation office at 489-2274 for more information.
